Then to get steadfast, you must not go to war with any faction for a good 10 turns, you must not break any treaties or alliance, the only way to keep this standing is to.do nothing and wait, once you have steadfast, you will gain high relationships pretty damn fast, now they will come to you, once you have trade agreement, the waiting game begins, you must wait for high relationships, i think around 150 for smaller factions and 225 for bigger ones, and i was able to make defensive alliance and even some military alliances. HOW TO:a Diplomatic victory: You must be Steadfast to accomplish anything even the smallest trade agreement, first thing you must do is completely control atleast 2 provinces and 2 extra regions to make you somewhat powerful(without being powrful even being steadfast they will not be diplomatic with you unless you have 100+ relationship, and even then they see you as weak so you must aquire territory early on).

This requires a civil war, however, another part of the game completely redesigned by the Creative Assembly.I found it is ok, it depends on your playstyle, if you like to expand, you will get no wherew with diplomacy, however i found turtling was the best way so far towards diplomatic/cultural victory. In certain cases, a player can attempt to take all power for himself, thus becoming emperor or king. If one's standing drops too low, he may find himself powerless to affect his nation's affairs, or if one becomes too powerful, rivals might unite against him. The political standing of different entities is based on a new resource system, that is in turn based on the deeds and actions of generals and characters belonging to a certain political entity. Players choose to be part of one of the entities once he selects the faction he wants to play. The Roman and Carthagian factions will have three political entities that vie for power inside the faction. The political system of Rome II has been completely remade and improved. Your own actions during the campaign will determine whether or not the enemy AI will be a trustworthy ally, or a suspicious traitor.
